Artist Statement
Her artwork exudes a distinctive style that can be described as narrative storytelling through western surrealist landscapes and abstract concepts. It merges the rugged and iconic elements of the American West - such as cowboys, horses, bison, and cacti - with a dreamlike, surreal quality achieved through vibrant colors, ethereal lighting, and geometric framing. The juxtaposition of detailed natural elements, like mountain ranges or desert roads with symbolic shapes or portals evokes a sense of timelessness and exploration.
Tuggle’s inspiration is rooted in the classic themes of western Americana-frontier life, the untamed wilderness, and human connection to nature while also reflecting on introspective and imaginative perspectives.
The circular motifs or portals and the surreal treatment of landscapes suggest an exploration of abstract ideas such as memory, passage, and interconnectedness. This unique approach positions her work as both a homage to and a reinvention of the Western narrative, blending the tangible with the transcendent.
